About my DialoguE experience : Most language training I've ever had taught me how to translate from English to French. At DialoguE I learned to call on what I knew to express myself directly in French. What a difference! Much like the difference between someone who can follow a recipe and someone who knows how ingredients combine to form cuisine, I learned more than just verbs & vocabulary; I absorbed the sounds, the nuances, and the rhytms of the language. I discovered that I could be understood by shopkeepers, taxi cab drivers, and, best of all –waiters! Two weeks at DialoguE were worth two semesters of college level instruction. By the end of my stay I was able to converse with French friends in their own language! They were so impressed. Not only that, but I now have the kind of foundation that makes future learning truly productive, instead of an exercise in memorizing dull vocabulary lists. Maybe the only down side to DialoguE is that one's English gets a little rusty!... C'est incroyable! Merci mille fois! Cris Ratiner |
